Thank you for your interest in rafting the James River with Richmond Raft Company. Unfortunately we are no longer able to offer you rafting activities in Richmond. At this time, the City of Richmond does not have a rafting concessionaire.

After 18 years of operating in the City of Richmond, many of those years as a concessionaire for the City itself, we have been forced to cease our rafting operations in Richmond due to a new contract offered by the City of Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Facilities that is inadequate for us to operate safely or to support a professional operation. Efforts by Richmond Raft Company owner Buzz Kraft to persuade the City to open negotiations were unsuccessful. To date, no one from the City has been willing to discuss or negotiate the terms and conditions the City is currently seeking.

We couldn't cease our rafting operations in Richmond without thanking some special people for their support. Thank you to Richmond Raft Company's 60 employees, who have lost their employment, for your professionalism, skillfulness and dedication. Thank you to our many partners in our industry. And, last but certainly not forgotten, thank you to our many, many past customers.

We offer whitewater rafting trips and river rafting tours in Richmond, VA. Our professionally guided paddle raft trips range from mild to wild. You can participate in a prescheduled trip or have us arrange an activity for your business, church, school, or private group. Previous experience is not necessary for our outings.

Located in Richmond, Virginia, Richmond Raft is an hour's drive from Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, and Charlottesville, and about two hours from Northern VA, Washington D.C., and Virginia Beach. Hotel and camping accommodations are available if you are coming to Richmond from out of town.
