Economic Contributions

  • Over $68,000 rent paid directly to the City of Richmond for use of the launching and landing sites offered in the Rafting Lease Agreement.
  • Approximately 100,000 people have visited downtown Richmond specifically for whitewater rafting.
  • RRC brings more than a million dollars annually to the City’s economy through hotels, restaurants and related spending.
  • RRC contributes to the lifestyle along the river that is driving the revitalization of downtown Richmond. You may have seen the photo that RRC arranged and staged showing downtown in the background as a raft shoots a class IV rapid.  Our efforts have gotten the image reproduced over several million times across the country and overseas.  That image promotes an active, vital, outdoor-friendly downtown and has played no small role in attracting active, outdoor enthusiasts to live and play in downtown Richmond.

  • RRC has operated in one of the city’s enterprise zones for more than 18 years.
  • RRC employs over 60 people, some with 18 years employment with the company.
